A new upcoming product from Piaggio-owned Moto Guzzi stables has been spied, called the California Bagger. The Bagger is based on a concept bike MGX21 which was displayed at the EICMA show in 2014. the MGX21, featured a radical looking front-end with a 21-inch front wheel and a bulged rear portion inspired by Vespa.

The Bagger would not be an out an out custom-touring bike, but would rather make a style statement enough to be successful in the market as it delivers what this segment asks for. The Bagger uses underpinnings of the acclaimed Moto Guzzi California, which is regarded as technically sound machine.

The spy photos of this Batman-styled motorcycle, were taken in Italy, during its road testing. The panniers seen on the Bagger are in developmental stage and one can expect to see different styled ones on the production model, later. The 21-inch front wheel distinguishes the Bagger from rest of the California family. The engine is a 1380cc longitudinal-crank V-twin and churns out 96bhp of power. This is the same engine which does duty in the Moto Guzzi California 1400. The Bagger also has a slightly longer wheelbase.

The Bagger would to go into production next year and would hit the market in mid-2016. Moto Guzzi may plan to introduce the Bagger in India. Currently, Moto Guzzi sells its California 1400, Bellagio 935 and Sports 8V 1150 in India, through the Vespa dealer network.
