Honda has finally unveiled the fifth Generation City for India. With this, they have also confirmed that the car will be launched in July 2020. The price of the New Honda City is the only thing that remains to be announced at the launch. The company also has said that the New Honda City is the longest and widest in its segment. New Honda City 2020 Design

Honda States that the new design of the 5th generation City is inspired by a Japanese Katana Blade which is a sword used by Samurai Warriors. The updated design includes a well defined bridge between the headlamps. Also, there is a sharp shoulder line connecting the tail lamps and the headlamps. The lights on this car are completely LED with unique wraparound design at the tail.

New Honda City 2020 Features

Honda City 5th gen gets a touch screen of 8-inch. This gets Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The car also gets a 7-inch tft driver instrument cluster which displays information like distance to empty and G-force. This also India’s first car to get Alexa assisted connected car features.

In terms of comfort features, it gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear, Remote engine starter, and automatic headlamps. The car is also offered with an electric sunroof but it is not a panoramic sunroof. Also, the vehicle is the largest in terms of dimensions so this will translate into some space on the inside. Along with this, the boot has a capacity of 506 litres.

Platform

The New City gets a lighter platform which has better rigidity. Use of higher tensile steel and also higher grade of steel on the vehicle will be seen which makes it safer. This is baked by a new suspension setup which gets reduced friction to give better stability at high speeds and comfort at low. Also, the NVH levels have been lower with the helps of foam sound insulator for the cabin and the engine. The insulation for the engine has been increased 3.5 times and the door gets double sealing too.

Engine

The 1.5L i-VTEC engine gets the power of 121 BHP. It generates a torque of 143 Nm. This engine gets a 6-speed manual transmission along with a 7 speed CVT gearbox. The CVT claims a higher mileage of 18.4 km/l.

The diesel engine gets a 1.5L i-DTEC engine. It takes about 100 BHP of power but a higher torque of 200 Nm lower in the rev range. The Diesel engine claims a mileage of 24.1 km/l.

The City 5th Gen gets 6 airbags- 2 at the dashboard, seat and side curtain. It also has ABS, EBD, ISOFIX seats, Pedestrian Injury mitigation technology. The Vehicle stability assist, Hill Start Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring system along with Honda LaneWatch Camera, Emergency Stop signal are there to prevent accidents. 2020 City gets an equivalent of ASEAN N-CAP 5-star safety rating.
