Which Mahindra Engine to Feature on Ford C-SUV?

Ford and Mahindra both have been producing quality cars for a very long time. Both these companies have been working together on an SUV. A new second-generation Mahindra XUV500 and an all-new Ford C-SUV is in works.

New Mahindra XUV500

The next generation Mahindra XUV500 goes by the codename of ‘Mahindra W601’. A similar model name C-SUV will also be launched by Ford later. Both the cars are based on monocoque chassis. All over the world, the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed the launches of new cars and similar is the case in India too. As a result, both of these cars will be launched sometime later than projected.

Engine and Performance

Dr Pawan Goenka, MD and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra, was quoted saying that both of the above-mentioned cars will be available with its 2.0-litre mStallion T-GDi turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Mahindra launched the new petrol engine at the Auto Expo 2020. It produces a maximum power of 190hp@5000rpm along with 380Nm@2000-4000rpm of torque.

Mr. Goenka said, “ The 2-litre engine has been accepted by Ford for the W601,605”. Both the cars will also be made available with 2.0-litre diesel engines as well.

Launch

We already wrote an article on the Mahindra XUV500 second-generation road testing. The car is rumoured to be inspired by the Mahindra Funster concept showcased in the Auto Expo 2020. The Ford C-SUV, on the other hand, will sport an entirely different design. Its chassis will have more add-ons for a more dynamic driving experience.

Customer Base

The Mahindra XUV500 second generation has been made for the value for money and family-focused buyers. Ford, on the other hand, has produced the C-SUV to be more performance-focused. The XUV500 may launch in the market during the festive season of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021. The Ford C-SUV will only be available after the XUV500 is launched, shifting its launching date to the end of 2021.
