The hatchback version of the Fiat Tipo/Egea has been spied for the first time. The pics have been taken by an Instagram user in Turkey and clearly reveals the side and rear profile of the car, though camouflaged.

The hatchback version carries over same design theme as the sedan, which is expected to go on sale in November this year. The car remains the same upto the C-pillar, beyond which the hatchback proportions take over.

The petrol as well as diesel engines will remain the same as Tipo/Egea sedan, which isowered by three engine choices –  a sixteen-valve 1.4 litre FIRE petrol along with the twin diesel motors  –  the 1.3 litre, 95 bhp Multijet II and a 1.6 litre, 120 bhp version. The 1.6-litre petrol will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fiat is also working on an automatic for the diesel version.

The Tipo hatchback is likely to sell higher numbers that its sedan version in Europe as the market for comparitively smaller sedans is yet not developed. Fiat is gung-ho about the new hatchback which is expected to be a volume driver for Fiat in Europe. An estate version of the Tipo is also expected to be launched, following the hatchback.

Fiat will be showcasing the Tipo hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show scheduled in March 2016 and it will be a replacement for the Fiat Bravo in European markets.
