Bajaj has nailed a lot of things with the Dominar 400. The bike makes for a great sports tourer and has proved its place as a do it all motorcycles in the market. But people haven’t been able to decide properly if this bike is good for the street or is it better on the highway? So here we list the points that work in its favour and its cons as a tourer and a Street Fighter and leave it up to you to decide what this bike is more suited for.  Let us know in the comments!

Touring Abilities

Dominar 250

For any tourer motorcycle, the riding position of the rider should be comfortable. Bajaj Dominar does come with pretty relaxed riding posture, its pegs are not far behind and also not forward set, it’s in between them. Also, the handlebar is pretty wide that gives you neat straight posture. So you will be pretty comfortable while riding the bike for a long period. Along with the comfortable riding posture, the bike also comes with good performance. The Dominar 400 makes 38.8 bhp max power and 35 Nm of peak torque. The more affordable Dominar 250 produces 26.6 bhp max power and 23.5 Nm of peak torque. So you get adequate performance for touring.

To further enhance the touring ability the bike comes with bungee strap, significant headlight throw and 13-litres fuel tank. However, the ground clearance of the bike is at 157 mm which we think could be a little bit more as some of the street fighters has also started to offer high ground clearance.

Street Fighter Nature

Dominar 250

Streetfighters are the bikes that are easy to manoeuvre, quickly accelerate and most importantly they are really aggressive-looking motorcycles. The bike has a long wheel base and its weight does not let a person flick it like a pocket rocket. The bike is also popular for its acceleration due to better low-end torque. The Bajaj Dominar has a naked nature but talking about the aggressiveness, it really depends on you. We personally feel it is aggressiveness motorcycle at least from the side and rear profile. Nevertheless, the bike is quite easy to ride in the city as well. However, the heavyweight characteristics limit its some of the city practicality.

Price and Rivals

The Dominar 250 costs Rs 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the Dominar 400 costs Rs 1.91 lakhs (ex-showroom). Both these bikes do judge the pricing and offer great value for money. It competes against Yamaha’s sports tourer motorcycle, the FZ 25 and FZS 25.
