A few days back it was confirmed that Hero is developing the Hero Maestro electric scooter and recently the images of the prototype have been circulated across the internet. As Hero is ahead of our expectations, this makes us believe that the launch of this all-electric scooter will be pretty much soon, of course, post corona somewhere around November or December this year. However, let’s see what we would be offered with this scooter.

Powertrain

The major change is, of course, the powertrain. The IC engine will be replaced with the electric motor, petrol fuel will be replaced with the Li-ion battery. We wish the battery to be a portably the one which could be easily carried at home or office. However, the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube had dedicated charging unit installed by the manufacturer and no portable batteries. So we suspect a similar unit with the Hero Maestro electric as well. The charging time can be expected around 5-6 hours for a full charge. The range of the scooter should be between 70-100 km at full charge. The power output is suspected a bit less than Bajaj Chetak.

Designwise the scooter will remain almost identical to the Maestro Edge 125. However, to make it appear premium the scooter will be getting all-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, copper finished alloy wheels and some futuristic graphic and colour options.

Cycle parts

The Hero Maestro electric will be sharing the cycle parts with its IC engine counterpart. The suspension duty will be done with telescopic suspension at front and mono-shock suspension at the rear. Braking duty will be done with drum brakes for both wheels as it’s seen in the images.

The scooter will be getting a fully digital instrument cluster. The cluster will have Hero’s smart connectivity feature that displays turn by turn navigation also you can view scooter stats on your smartphone. It will basically have similar connectivity features as of the Hero Xpulse 200.

Price

Hero Maestro Electric

The price of the scooter is expected to be very attractive as well as competitive. We can expect the price of the scooter slightly premium over the Maestro Edge 125. We can expect the pricing range between Rs 65,000-70,000 (ex-showroom). Many motorcycle manufacturers are expecting the rise in two-wheeler sales after the COVID-19 Pandemic gets an end. Hero Electric has also stated that there will be a rise in demand in electric two-wheeler after the pandemic outbreak. Nevertheless, electric vehicles are expected to have a rise in demand in the near future, and we really hope for exciting electric vehicles.
