Nissan has announced the details about the BS6 Nissan Kicks.

There is some exciting news about the engine. The company has also given information about the gearbox too. Let’s know more about the new engine and its future prospects.

New Engine

NIssan Kicks 2

The new engine introduced on the vehicle is called the HR13DDT. It is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. It makes a power of 156 bhp and a whooping torque of 254 Nm. This makes the engine one of the most powerful engines in its class. Offering such a powerful engine on this BS6 Nissan Kicks might attract performance-based biased buyers. Another reason why enthusiasts will look at this vehicle will be the 8 step CVT gearbox. It will improve the mileage efficiency and keep the  BS6 Nissan Kicks in the torque band all the time. A 6-speed manual transmission could be offered too.

This similar engine was showcased on the Renault Duster at the Auto Expo 2020. We can soon expect Renault to announce the arrival of the vehicle too.

Engine Development

This new HR13 engine has been created with Daimler along with Kicks and Duster. The engine is the same with higher tunes on the other Renault, Nissan and Mercedes Benz A-Class and GLA. As of now, the news is that the BS6 Nissan Kick won’t have a diesel variant. Previously the vehicle used to come with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. But upgrading that diesel engine to the BS6 norms is a loss equation for the company.

BS6 Nissan Kicks Price

Nissan has said that the BS6 Kick will be priced very competitively. We expect its pricing to be close to the Pricing of the Renault Duster. They also say that the lower variants of the BS6 Nissan Kicks will come with a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. That engine will produce a power of 106 bhp and can be priced low. The sales of Nissan Kicks, which has been down since the start, are expected to bump up because of this new update. Aggressive pricing and feature packing are the marketing tactics that helped the MG Hector to gain a good market share in the market. This shows that India buyers are more favoured for the value for money aspect.
