Renault will be launching a range of utility vehicles (SUV and MPV) in the Indian market, in the next few year and plans to launch at least six new vehicles by 2020.

Renault will be challenging companies like Mahindra and Tata.

Renault, has been aggressively competing with Mahindra, its former partner, starting with the Duster that took on the Scorpio. Recently,  Kwid – the entry level car with an SUV-like design has been launched to counter Mahindra’s expected S101 (codenamed), which will be a micro-SUV and operate in the same segment.

Renault will also be launching a seven-seater Duster in 2018.

Renault will also be launching two new vehicles, based on the Captur design, based on the CMF-A platform, on which even the Kwid is based. The two vehicles likely to be priced between INR 5 lakhs and 10 lakhs, positioned between the entry-level Kwid and the new Duster .

As per a source who said to ET, “The new premium SUV (HHA) is an emerging market derivative of the Captur. It is based on the Logan M0-B platform, with a highly successful European styling and it will have an all-new longer body for markets like India, Russia and Brazil, and meet the practicality of seven seats.” Since this model is based on the Logan platform, it will share a lot of parts with the Duster and the Lodgy multi-purpose vehicle, helping the company save cost and time both.
