Vespa Elettrica unveiled – Auto Expo 2020

After the launching of electric scooters by Big brands such as Bajaj, TVS, how could the famous scooter manufacturer stay behind. After the debut in international market, Piaggio finally unveiled the Vespa Elettrica EV in India. To know more about the Vespa Elettrica read below.

Design

The design language is similar to the original Vespa. It gets signature round headlamps with full LED setup. It gets funky colour accents on the body. The scooter gets the new fully digital TFT display instrument  panel, it provides all the required info to the rider i.e speed, battery level, range, etc. It also gets the smart connectivity feature called as ‘Vespa Connectivity’ via Bluetooth. It gets ride mode switches and the power off switch as well.

The scooter has two mode options- power, eco and also the reverse mode as well.

The scooter is equipped with many convenient features. It gets the glove box at front, a seat hook and a huge under seat storage. Other features are very similar to regular petrol Vespa- chrome mirrors, rubber strip foot board, etc.

Power train

The Vespa Elettrica is powered by 4 kW max brushless motor. It produces maximum torque of 200 Nm. The battery is 4.2 kWh Lithium-ion unit. Top speed of the scooter is 70 km/hr in power mode and 45 km/hr in eco mode. It has claimed range of 100 km in eco mode and 70 km in power mode. The charging time takes around 3.5 hrs to charge fully from zero with the AC fast charger, provided by company.

Braking duty is handled by 200 mm disc brakes at front and 140 mm drum brakes at rear. It gets 12-inch front and 11-inch rear alloy wheels.

Price

The price is not yet revealed by the manufacturer. It is expected to priced slightly above the vespa 150 top trim, for reference the Vespa 150 Elegante Special edition is priced at Rs 1.05 lakh(ex-showroom). It will compete against the newly launched Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.
