Maruti Suzuki has been bringing on BS6 products as soon as possible. They have completed 8 launches and now they have brought their 9th product in the BS6 lineup. This is the Maruti Suzuki Eeco BS6. The vehicle comes in 5 seaters and 7 seater version. It is a MUV type vehicle. It has been the most popular MUV because of its low price and running costs. Let’s take a look at why Maruti Eeco was a necessary update to the BS6 lineup.

What makes the Maruti Eeco Versatile?

The Maruti Eeco is a vehicle that was the evolved version of the Maruti Omni Van. When the Omni could no longer be continued due to safety norms the Eeco was introduced. The vehicle due to its sliding door mechanism can be used as a delivery vehicle. The Maruti Eeco is a MUV in true sense. The vehicle can be seen as an ambulance, a cargo van, a taxi, school van ect. There 5 seater version has been modified into 7 or 8 seaters but these vehicles are not safe.

The vehicle was designed with the purpose of transporting people from point A to point B. The price has been kept low. The accessories on this vehicle are also minimal. This makes this vehicle very versatile. The user has a lot of room to make certain modifications, usually with the seating arrangements so that this vehicle will fulfil the need of the hour. This makes it a really important vehicle for Maruti in its fleet. The update of BS6 was necessary but was not urgent. This is the reason why we see the Maruti Eeco come with a BS6 update so late.

Eeco Engine change

The Maruti Eeco gets the old G-series engine. This engine has been made BS6 compliant. The company has not given it the new K-series engine. The main reason is that the Eeco engine has to mount longitudinally. The new K-series engine will require extra R&D to fix it longitudinally. Also, the vehicle is a rear-wheel drive and the new engine will require a lot of changes to do so. It is just not possible with the K12 engine.

Maruti Eeco Mileage

The Maruti Eeco with the BS6 update has better mileage than the previous versions. The vehicle will be seen with a bump of 15.37 km/l to 16.1 km/l. But this is because the power has been reduced slightly. It has dropped to 73bhp and the torque of the vehicle has also come down to 98 Nm.

The Maruti Eeco has been a vehicle which has not changed much from its genesis but it continues to bring out a decent number of sales every year. Maruti has launched the S-Presso recently. Take a look at the review of the vehicle.
