Bajaj Chetak LAUNCHED – Everything you need to know

The Bajaj Chetak has been finally launched. The scooter was a highly anticipated product from Bajaj and marks the brand’s first launch this year. The scooter gets two variants – Urbane and Premium. The Bajaj Chetak is going to directly compete with the Ather 450 in the premium electric scooter segment. The Bajaj Chetak has been in the works for a really long time and speaking at the launch – Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director said, “The return of the legendary Chetak now in a modern electric avatar is indeed a proud moment for all of us at Bajaj Auto”. He further added, ‘From 15th Jan, 2020 onwards Chetak will be available in 2 cities and this will mark the commencement of a new era in two-wheeler mobility. We are confident that Chetak will set absolutely new benchmark standards of clean tech-driven, elegant and a delightful ownership experience shaping the very future of personal commuting and building HAMARA KAL”

Bajaj Chetak What is it?

The Bajaj Chetak packs a 3.8kW/4.1kW  electric motor, which sends power to the rear wheel via a unique automated transmission. The company has said that its Intuitive Kick Down Mode will supply an additional surge of power when required. This motor is powered from a lithium-ion battery pack that should give you a range of 95km in Eco Mode and 85km in the Sport mode. The Chetak needs minimal maintenance with a service interval of 12,000km or one year (whichever is earlier) and comes with an overall warranty of 3 years or 50,000km (whichever is earlier) inclusive of the Lithium-Ion battery. When it comes to charging, the time that it takes is a claimed 5hr for 100% and 1hr for 25%. Chargers will be provided with the scooter and the installation will be carried out by a trained technician at the customer’s house. Price and competition

The Chetak Urbane edition with Drum Brakes will be priced at Rs 1 lac, while the Chetak Premium edition with Disc Brakes and luxury finish will be priced at Rs. 1.15 lacs (ex-showroom). Customers can book the vehicle online on the Chetak website at a nominal amount of Rs.2000. We can’t wait to get our hands on this scooter for a proper review and also pit it against the Ather.
