Suzuki Burgman 400 to come to Auto Expo 2020?

This year none of the most important two-wheeler manufacturers are going to take part in the 2020 Auto Expo.

Expect Suzuki, who we think they will use this opportunity to show off the maxi scooter – Suzuki Burgman 400. Yes, which means Honda, Hero, Yamaha, TVS, Bajaj (never takes part traditionally) are going to be there. Luxury and sports bike manufacturers like KTM, Ducati, Triumph, Harley Davidson, etc won’t be joining too. So this really leaves Suzuki and Piaggio (who is participating) to take maximum advantage and show us their best. One of the two-wheelers we are looking forward to is the Burgman 400.

What is it and why should it come to India?

The Suzuki Burgman 400 could not come but here is where we think why it should. India’s biking audience has become more mature in the last couple of years where people have taken to touring and adventure activities on their bikes. More accessories, information and know-how of things are available. In this scenario, Suzuki’s Burgman 400 makes a lot of sense when it comes to offering a rider something that is powerful, comfortable and has a lot of storage. In India, we have already experienced and liked the idea of a maxi-scooter which is the -Suzuki Burgman 125.

The Burgman 400 uses the same idea of a maxi scooter and packs a bigger punch with a single-cylinder four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that produces 30bhp.

Now at this point, we should say that the scooter, if it comes to India, will be by the end of the year because of this engine still being Euro 4 compliant. Rumour has it that Suzuki will be making sure that it is made Euro 5 compliant in the first half of this year. If that happens, markets like India could also be included to get a BS6 variant.

Apart from the engine, the scooters highlight will be the features it packs. The scooter gets good under-seat storage of 42L, adjustable backrest, two big glove boxes, 12V power outlet, rear brake and also as an accessory – heated grips. The scooter will get more accessories too.

Suzuki Burgman 400 Price and Competition

The competition for this scooter will be none unless Honda and Yamaha decide to bring their own scooters here. But right now it seems that only Suzuki is a bit serious about this space and will be making sure that they can capture this space. Pricing should be around Rs 2 lakhs for this maxi scooter.
