Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 teased, coming soon

The 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 is coming soon and with the company sharing a tweet saying – Coming soon.

The Himalayan is an affordable adventure tourer that brings off-road ability and serious grunt to do touring effortlessly. Over the years, the Himalayan has developed its own cult following among riders who want a bike that does everything. Royal Enfield has over the years made sure that this tribe of riders grows and Himalayan becomes more successful. So what does that mean for the BS6 Himalayan? What changes will we see here? 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 Changes?

The 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan will comply with the upcoming BS6 norms. How? The bike will get a new exhaust, a retuned engine to make sure the power doesn’t drop significantly and the catalytic convertor. Right now BS4 Himalayan is powered by a 411 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which produces 24bhp of max power and 32Nm of torque.

The power drop should not be much. Apart from that, the bike has been spotted testing online recently and has received some changes in the form of new telltale light on the instrument cluster which could mean that ABS can be now switched-off. The reintroduction of the hazard warning lights will also take place along with a fatter rear tyre and a smaller front tyre. So dynamically Royal Enfield has planned a few changes here.

The motorcycle will not get any new body panel or change in terms of design. Though we might see some more accessories and better color options like we saw last year at EICMA. This will make the motorcycle a bit more fresh. We don’t think the bike will get a DRL or any LED light on it. There is talk of a X variant making its way to the Himalayan but we will have to wait and watch for that.

Price and Competition

The price of the bike should increase by Rs 10,000 max and will continue to compete with the Hero Xpulse, BMW 310GS and the Kawasaki Versys X-300, We will know more about the upcoming 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 in the coming month closer to its launch before the BS6 deadline ends.
