The Bajaj Dominar 400 BS6 will be a bike from Bajaj that will be highly anticipated by consumers. The bike will get BS6 compliance and it might see some changes which might be a bit disappointing as the price will also go higher. Taking a look at how this Dominar product achieved success over the Pulsar product line we need to see how this product was introduced and how the changes were made. Further, we will also mention about the upcoming BS6 vehicle.

The Dominar got a good response when it was launched first. This was because it offered great value for money. It made the 400cc segment more affordable. Then Bajaj launched the updated Dominar 400 UG. This fixed the issues that were on the initially launched Dominar. The ground clearance of the vehicle was increased by changing the exhaust with a new upswept exhaust. The ride was also made more compliant by giving upside-down forks. These improved the ride quality to a greater extent. The secondary console of the vehicle also got some changes which made showed some more important information. All these changes kept the Dominar updated and in touch with the new bikes and the sales of the vehicle are doing decent numbers. All this was also due to the power bump that was given to the vehicle.

The Dominar 400 is placed above the Pulsar range. This means that the bike has a lot of expectations to keep up with. The 2020 version of the Dominar will make use of the same 375cc engine which has been increased for stroke. The engine will be made BS6 compliant which will be done by changing a few components on the engine as well as changing the catalytic converter. The BS6 version will also get an ECU to remap. Now all these steps are done while tuning or detuning the engine. So to reduce the emission Bajaj will have to detune it and there will be definitely a loss of power. Now, this BS6 emission norms can make a good product like Bajaj Dominar 400 BS6 to be terrible or it might shine even brighter. This all depends on how the company goes about with the norms.

Dominar 2019

The Executive Director of Bajaj Auto has disclosed that the company has 18 months of lineups and new launches. The company is trying to line up the new launches as almost all existing vehicle requires a BS6 update. The upcoming launch lineup will consist of Husqvarna, KTM, Dominar and Pulsar. Further, he also added that “There may be a ‘lull’ between now and April 2020, but next year will be filled with new product launches. We have a robust pipeline of launches for the next 18 months. Our problem is sequencing. These are Husqvarna, high-end KTMs, Dominars, Pulsar and other variants. One might see a lull between now and April, though there are a couple of introductions and an accelerated product introduction after April 2020.” He did not reveal the specifics of the vehicle and that makes us difficult to predict. There also have been various speculations regarding a mid-size ADV based on the Dominar. It will also be priced so that it is easy to access.

As for the Bajaj Dominar 2020, it might be launched next year. They have made their entry into the BS6 market with the Pulsar 125. The company does not want it to compete with the heavily discounted BS4 version in the market. To add to all this Bajaj has unveiled its first-ever electric scooter by the name Bajaj Chetak. This shows that the brand is interested in reviving the classics in the form of modern vehicles. To check out this electric scooter click on the link below
