Honda Activa Electric coming to India?

Honda Activa Electric is coming. We have been hearing about it for a while? Is it true? Honda is working on electric scooters.

There is no one who won’t be working at the moment. Honda had even mentioned about the company being serious about electrifying its 2 wheelers.

But will it be the Honda Activa Electric or some other electric scooter?

Looking at the current Honda Activa buyer, he/she needs a scooter that is basic and fulfils the requirements like good pick-up, mileage, solid built with metal body, good service and network followed by ease of resale too. This will make it an exciting offering in the market to give more features, but Honda shall loose out on its huge base of customers with this. Hence, is the reason why the Activa didn’t even have telescopic suspension on offer.

Honda had unveiled the PCX Electric scooter at the 2018 Auto Expo, however we aren’t sure on what will be the exact model on offer. The Activa Electric is a good idea, but not as a whole and soul offering. The Activa Electric should be offered, maybe with the current Activa also on sale. The Activa 6G is already in the making. We don’t reckon the electric scooters will see the day-light  in 2020 atleast. Even if it does, will be towards the very end. To make electric affordable, PCX will not be a great option.

Something based on the Activa will be more affordable. 

Honda Activa Electric if it comes, our prediction is by mid 2021. Anything before that shall give Honda an added advantage in the market. Bajaj will be one of the first major-makers to have electric 2 wheeler on offer. The Bajaj Chetak shall be launched by January 2020. Bajaj will even get the sportier version of this scooter, with another brand as well. Hero is also preparing for an all new range of electric 2 wheelers, and the company even showcased the Duet-E last time around. TVS had even showcased its electric scooter back in 2018. Other players like Okinawa and Ather have been going strong in the electric scooter market already.
