Kia QYi – Brezza Competition SUV

Kia has been working for a new sub 4 meter SUV. This has been going on by many names like the Baby Seltos or the Mini Seltos. The code name of this vehicle is QYi. That of the Kia Seltos was QXi. This vehicle is a compact SUV that will be made for the 2020 Auto Expo where it will make its global debut as a concept. The Kia Seltos made its global debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. For the 2020 Auto Expo Kia has a baby Seltos. The car has been spotted while being tested on the road many times. There have been a lot of spy shots of the vehicle on the internet and it has not been clear yet which car is Kia testing.

Kia QYi Launch

The launch of this vehicle is expected to take place anywhere between February 2020 to May 2020. It has been seen on the road while being tested. But this seems like the early stages of testing. The final product will have a lot of changes than the product that has been seen while testing. The launch might get delayed due to the BS6 emission norms. This has an easy fix which has been mentioned ahead in the Engine section. As of now, Kia hasn’t even announced anything about the vehicle. The launch will be declared once the company reveals the vehicle. This will take place only when the production of the vehicle starts.

This sub 4 meter SUV will be the third launch by the company. The Seltos has already been launched and the company is planning to launch the Grand Carnival next. This means that the company will launch this smaller SUV after the Auto Expo 2020. The car will share its platform with the Hyundai Venue and this makes it easier to build within India. The probable launch date will be around July 2020.

Kia QYi Price

It is too early to talk about the pricing of this vehicle. The Kia QYi will be priced close to the Hyundai Venue. The vehicle has to cover all the development costs as well as stay over the market price and thus Kia will take over its toughest competitor, the Hyundai Venue. For now, the Venue is priced at Rs 6.65 lakhs to Rs 11.11 lakhs. To beat this price Kia has to start its prices below Rs 6 lakhs and have enough variants so that the price of the topmost variant is slightly lower than the Hyundai Venue while at the same time it offers more. So we expect that the car will be priced at Rs 6 lakhs to Rs 10.9 lakhs. All the above-mentioned prices are ex-showroom prices. Now Kia also has to compete with the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Maruti Brezza has been in this segment and being a Maruti vehicle it sells because of the brand reliability. This is the area where Kia has to take steps with the introduction of the new vehicle. The SUV’s pricing will not affect if there is no brand reliability.

Kia QYi Engine

The engine of this vehicle will be the same as in the Hyundai Venue. Currently, the venue is offered with 4 engine configurations. The 1.2 litre with a 5-speed manual transmission is the sportier option. There is no option of an Automatic transmission on this engine. The second option is the 1.0-litre petrol engine. This engine is a more eco-friendly option. This will come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and will also have the option of a 7-speed DCT. The offering of a DCT will increase the price but will improve fuel efficiency. The DCT transmission has a much better feel than the regular AMT. There will be only one engine configuration with diesel fuel options. This will be the 1.4-litre engine. It comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. These engine options will make the give the buyer’s good choice. The diesel engine will be equipped with a turbocharger. The DCT transmission on this vehicle will be a premium offering will definitely reflect in its sales. The Engine of the Hyundai Venue will be tweaked to Kia’s customer base preference. It will be a bit more on the sportier side. All engine options will be BS6 compliant from day 1.

Kia QYi Safety

Safety-wise this car will be as safe as the Kia Seltos. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), TCS (Traction control system), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), BAS (Brake-Assist System), 360-degree camera and rear and front parking sensors.

This has been standard on the Seltos and we will see it on the Grand Carnival as well. TThe safety will also be improved as the vehicle will also offer pedestrian safety which will make it not only safe for the passengers inside the vehicle but also for the people on the streets. The electronic aids will ensure that the vehicle will remain planted on the roads at high speed as well as the power delivery will not feel frantic.

Kia QYi Features

The Kia QYi will not have any additional features. The car will be sheerly made on the lines of the Kia Seltos. The Seltos vehicle is already tightly packed and doesn’t need any addons. Some of the features include:
