Mahindra S101/XUV100/KUV100 spotted on test again

Mahindra S101/XUV100/KUV100 has been spotted on test and this is time the front of the SUV is clearly visible.

This is a micro-SUV and it has a new-generation Mahindra styling. The front grille is slim and the headlamps even have daytime running LEDs. Mahindra will be targeting first time car buyers with this micro SUV/ crossover.

The S101 is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine options. These will even have an AMT (automated manual transmission) option as well.

This is a newly developed engine from Mahindra and it has been developed jointly with Ssangyong for other new compact UVs as well. These are three-cylinder engines and the four-cylinder version is a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel.

The Mahindra S101 is likely to be called as XUV100 or KUV100. This new compact SUV will be launched either by this year end or early 2016. The TUV300 is larger than the S101 and it is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine. Both are appealing to different set of buyers.

The S101 will be a five-seater and will be the first vehicle in its segment. The Maruti Ignis is the likely competitor to this new micro SUV.
