Hyundai i20 2019 Engine and Transmission

Hyundai is offering a 1.2-litre petrol engine churning about 84bhp of power and about 115Nm of torque. This petrol engine comes with five-speed manual and last year, a CVT was also offered on it. So, the 1.4-litre petrol with four-speed automatic has been discontinued. This new CVT combo, reduces the pricing due to taxation and even adds more value to the content. CVT improves the response and even the mileage. The petrol engine is absolutely silent and has decent performance. There is more than sufficient torque to drive daily in the city. However, it misses out on outright performance when compared to the competition. The diesel engine is a gem. It has amazing performance. This engine churns about 90 horses and it has six-speed manual transmission. It is quick and even quiet. This makes it an exciting package to consider.

Hyundai i20 2019 Mileage

Here is one area, which Hyundai needs to work on. The mileage of the petrol engine isn’t very high. It is somewhere in the range of 10-12km/l for the petrol manual in the city. This goes up to 15km/l on the highway. The CVT is also somewhat similar. While, the diesel makes up for it. In the metro areas, it has about 16km/l while on the open road the numbers come very close to 20km/l.

Hyundai i20 2019 Interiors

The interiors of the i20 2019 are good looking. It has black and beige combination, which makes it look attractive. The other important aspect of the i20 inside is its quality. Everything feels high quality, and even the touch and feel of materials is fantastic. The competing cars offer more of a basic finish, but the i20 feels plush. Literally! that’s the word. The instrument cluster is made up of twin dials and driver information sandwiched between it. Top-spec model gets leather-wrapped steering wheel. This makes it feel good. There are multiple controls on the wheel – music, telephone and cruise. There are automatic headlamps and evenrain-sensing wipers. The music system on the i20 is excellent, and in our Best Music System under Rs 12 lakhs cars, the i20 system came second. Do, check out the video.

The i20 comes with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD on the Asta (O) variant. The other features are push start and stop, climate control, rear AC vents as well. In terms of space, the i20 is an excellent package. It doesn’t miss out on any of the features. We reckon in this segment, it is the best-vehicle. In our previous comparisons, the i20 did even win against the Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz.
