Ford will be launching the 2016model year of the Ecosport in India this year. “The Ecosport 2016 will be here before this Christmas,” stated Ford India’s President and Managing Director, Nigel Harris to IAB.

The changes to the 2016 Ecosport are minor changes on the outside and it gets an updated engine. This is the same 1.5-litre diesel engine, but now it will be producing about 98bhp of power and 215Nm of maximum torque. The diesel will be more powerful and fuel-efficient also. The petrol engines will be the same 1.0-litre EcoBoost (five-speed manual) and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT with 108bhp and it comes with a six-speed dual clutch transmission and five-speed manual transmission.

Ford Ecosport update interior

The Ecosport 2016 in Europe gets the rear wheel under the SUV, but for India it will be retained on the tailgate. The Ecosport is also likely to get a new four-inch colour display with SYNC, reverse parking camera and satellite navigation. The Ecosport will be getting some of the features from the Figo Aspire as well. The base variant of the Ecosport will be getting driver airbag also and the top-of-the-line Titanium+ shall retain the six airbags on it. There will be a few more new colours and new design for the alloy wheels on the Ecosport. This will be the third launch by Ford in 2015 (including new and refreshes).
