The Mahindra S201 will be launched next year. The cars official name was to be announced last week but now the date for this name reveal has been changed to 19th of December, today. The name of the car is most likely going to be, Mahindra Inferno. We have found the below trademark and thus we can say that there is a strong possibility that the car will be called Inferno. The car will be Mahindra’s premium offering in the compact SUV segment and will go with the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The car will be a great addition to the Mahindra SUV line-up. Based on the Ssangyong Tivoli this car will offer many premium features and option that will be first in the segment.

The Mahindra Inferno will be launched next year and will be the auto maker’s move into the compact SUV segment. The car should come by early February or late January. The Mahindra Inferno will come with a black and beige interior theme most likely. The SUV will get infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen. It will have Bluetooth compatibility, reversing camera, USB and AUX connectivity. It may also get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The steering wheel be a new one. This will also have audio and Bluetooth controls mounted on it. In addition the Mahindra XUV 300 will also get automatic climate control, leather upholstery and a push button start with keyless entry. There will be a good center armrest with storage too. As seen in the image above and the spy shots, the car will also get storage above the glove-box too.

In terms of features, Mahindra will be looking at loading this SUV with one of the highest set of features in this segment. Mahindra will be a late entrant in this segment, but will try to capture a large pie. This will be under 4 metres, so expect the boot size to be about 350 litres. It might not be anything larger than that. The Inferno is an exciting product and it has all ticked all the correct boxes. There will be a lot of safety features on offer, which will make it an exciting package for the Indian car market.

The car will look great. The car will look similar to the Ssangyong Tivoli. The car will wear the signature Mahindra seven slate grille. Mahindra has been targeting the youth off lately, with products like KUV100. The S201 or Inferno will be designed to look like a compact SUV, and it will carry forward the design language of the Mahindra’s current UVs. This new SUV will have sharp lines and a sleek looking front end, which will be a departure from other Mahindra vehicles. The grille will be sleek with wrap-around headlamps at both ends. These headlamps will have LED DRLs embedded. It will have a modern silhouette.

The Inferno will get petrol and diesel engines. The petrol will be a new 1.5-litre engine that is being developed. This engine could be seen soon on the Marazzo too. This is all-new engine, expected to power future vehicles of Mahindra. The power that it will develop will be around 100bhp and 145Nm of torque.

The diesel engine of the XUV 300 will either be the existing 1.5-litre unit that does does duty in the TUV300 or there will be an all-new 2.0-litre engine that will develop around 138bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. This will make the XUV300 a very power infused [ackage to consider. As shown in the spy shots the car will get a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic unit from Aisin, Japan, which also does duty on the XUV500. The Mahindra XUV300 will a front will drive SUV. And as we have seen with the Marazzo, the car could come with AWD.
