As the adventure motorcycle scene in India is hotting up, Yamaha is also gearing up to jump into this segment and has been testing its dual-sport motorcycle – the XTZ 250 Lander for sometime now.

The XTZ Lander 250 is Yamaha’s entry level dual-sport motorcycle, that is currently manufactured in Brazil and sold in many other countries. Adventure biking enthusiasts in India have been waiting for affordable off-roaders in India and it seems their wait will not be long now. The Hero Impulse was supposed to fulfill the demands of this market, however, owing to a a 150cc engine with mediocre performance, it could not catch the fancy of buyers, as expected. While Hero is planning to relaunch the Impulse with its new 250cc engine, Yamaha is aiming at being the first to enter this segment.

The XTZ 250 is a typical dual-sport motorcycle with a tall stance. It has telescopic front forks with a travel of 240mm, and a monoshock at the rear with a travel of 220mm, 18-inch rear wheel and 21-inch front wheel, which means that the bike is ideal to tackle any terrain with ease. Also being powered by a 250cc, single-cylinder unit which will deliver 21bhp of power and 21Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed gearbox, the XTZ Lander will have sufficient power to make this a fun motorcycle. The bike weighs 130kgs, has a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres. It will offer electric start as standard.

The Yamaha XTZ 250 Lander was captured on camera by AutoX. It is expected to be lauched by end of this year or early 2016, in India and will likely be priced around INR 1.50-1.75 lakhs (on-road).
