As the demand for compact crossovers is on the rise, Toyota will be upgrading the Etios Cross to match up with the competition.

At the moment, the Etios Cross is just the Etios Liva with a body kit and gets a different interior trim. It doesn’t have increased ground clearance and even the features that competition offers aren’t available on the Etios Cross. We had previously as well done a story that Toyota is planning to introduce an upgrade for the Etios Cross.

This is one reason why the brand is considering to revamp the crossover and make it more appealing and premium. Some of the factors that are considered are higher ground clearance, a new infotainment system with touchscreen system and some more major upgrades on the inside. The Etios Cross is offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 80bhp of power and 1.4-litre D-4D diesel that churns out 68bhp of power. These will be the same engines that will be offered on the Etios Cross Dynamique. There will be an increase in its pricing as it see a minimum hike of INR 40,000. Expect the pricing to be between INR 6.

5-8.75 lakhs (on-road).

Toyota is likely to introduce this upgrade either by the year of this end or it will be revealed at the 2016 Auto Expo. Toyota is working its way towards a new range of UVs that are bound to come in next year. This includes the new-generation Fortuner, Innova and the current Innova will become the Innova Cross.

Then there is also the Toyota Vios, which will be competing with the Honda City.
