Suzuki has revealed the front view of its upcoming hatchback Suzuki Baleno. The car will be showcased at the 66th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show to be held on 15th September.

The Baleno, codenamed YRA, has an elegant and bold design. It offers a spacious cabin along with good luggage space, and a host of new technologies. “The product has a huge significance for Maruti Suzuki as it will be by far the best vehicle made by the company and in a way new face of the company. Baleno and Nexa story are not currently understood, but it is going to be a big factor in Maruti Suzuki’s vision of 2 million and 2020,” said a company official to ETAuto.

The Baleno will be powered by a 1.0 litre direct-injection turbo Boosterjet engine and will be based on a lightweight new-generation platform.

It will also feature the  SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) engine assist by an integrated starter generator.

The SHVS system is also present on Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz Hybrid to be launched on 1st September, in India.

The all-new Baleno will be launched in Europe next year and is expected to come to India in late 2016 . It will be pitted against the Hyundai i20 Elite and the Honda Jazz.

The Baleno shall be sold through the company’s premium Nexa showrooms.
