More details of the Honda BR-V, which made its world debut last week at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show, have been made available. It certainly seems that Honda is going to give competition a run for their money.

The BR-V is built on the Brio platform and is a seven-seater, crossover recreational vehicle with a typical SUV like high ground clearance and a dynamic exterior design.

The AC vents, the glovebox, the instrument cluster all are new, except the steering wheel that is shared with the Brio family. Its dimensions are 4455 mm long, 1735 mm wide and 1650 mm tall, with a 2660 mm-long wheelbase.

Other relevant numbers include a 1500 mm front and rear track, as well as 200 mm of ground clearance, as revealed by Paultan.org.

The BR-V shall be offered in both, a 1.5-litre petrol as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine option. The petrol will have a six-speed manual transmission and CVT, while the 1.5-litre diesel will be coming with a six-speed manual transmission. All the grade variants will ride on 16-inch alloys as standard, dressed with 195/60 series tyres. Other equipment across the range includes projector headlamps, fog lamps, powered side mirrors and double blower air-conditioning. The second-row seats get a one-touch tumble feature, while the third row seats offer a 50:50 split and can be folded down.

Standard safety equipment consists of dual Airbags, ABS and EBD. The base variant S will sport a double-DIN head unit, and from the E variant, a 6.1-inch display touch screen system shall be available. The E also will feature LED lamps, audio controls on the steering wheel and a multi-information display, as well as chrome-finished door handles and side protectors. The automatic variants will get hill-start assist too. The BR-V will come in six exterior colours – Misty Green Pearl, Passion Red Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Taffeta White and Modern Steel Metallic.

The Honda BR-V is expected to be priced at INR 9-14 Lakhs on-road and will be showcased in India, at the 2016 Auto Expo.
