Suzuki Hayate Refresh

Suzuki has been quietly going about tweaking its entire model range, in the run-up to the upcoming festive season. Usually, such tweaks or refreshes tend to be sticker jobs or an additional colour scheme at best. Suzuki’s 110cc executive commuter – the Hayate receives new livery but it is also to receive some key mechanical updates. The 110cc engine that powers the Hayate remains untouched though. After-all, why fix something that isn’t broke.

Tubeless tires make an appearance on the Hayate for the first time. These when paired with the handsome multi-spoke alloys, should help commuters avoid being stranded by the side of the road due to a puncture. The Hayate also gets a maintenance-free battery, again a change that’s aimed towards improving the reliability of the bike and also towards doing away with periodic trips to the neighbourhood battery guy for top-ups.

Another key upgrade that Suzuki has given the Hayate is a five-step adjustable suspension at the rear. This should help the bike to ride better over varying terrain and under different payloads. And that’s that on the functional front.

Visually speaking, the refreshed Hayate now comes with body coloured side panels and new decals too. Just an attempt from Suzuki to improve the looks of the Hayate when viewed from the side.

All-in-all, the upgrades list isn’t massive, but it does fit in the mould of continuous improvements that Suzuki seem to have adopted. The mechanical bits should help the Hayate ride and perform better on the road. Something that the regular commuter buyer should definitely appreciate when taking it out for a test-ride.

The refreshed Hayate is available at Suzuki showrooms at a price-tag of Rs.

60,000 (on-road, Mumbai).
