Honda showcases BR-V in Indonesia

The BR-V or Bold Runabout Vehicle, is the latest salvo from Japanese car giant – Honda that’s been designed keeping the needs of customers in the Asian market in mind. Developed jointly by Honda Thailand and Honda Indonesia, the BR-V is a seven-seater, crossover recreational vehicle that’s characterised by high ground clearance and a dynamic exterior design.

You get a nice, high seating position, with a front end that’s distinctive yet, characteristic Honda. There’s no mistaking those CR-V genes in there though. Large alloy wheels are wrapped in adequate rubber that fill out the wheel-wells, with black cladding all around. Sharp creases adorn the door and shoulder line giving a hint of the Mobilio to the watchful eye. Large sized headlamps draw attention to the front, with the trademark Honda grille finished in chrome. Fog-lamps get pushed closer to the corners at the bottom, with the lip getting the satin-chrome treatment.

The BR-V shall be offered in both, a 1.5 Litre petrol as well as a 1.5 Litre diesel engine option. Dimensionally, the BR-V shall be slightly larger than the Renault Duster and offer three rows of seats, with ample space for seven people on-board. This focus on ‘Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’ by Honda is what has allowed the BR-V to edge out the competition in terms of seating space.

On the inside, the BR-V gets an all-new instrument cluster, apart from the AC Vents and the glove box. The steering wheel shall be shared with the Brio. In terms of in-car features, the BR-V comes fully kitted out and buyers shall get keyless entry, push-button start/stop system, an integrated touchscreen media system with satellite navigation on-board and Bluetooth. There’s also a reverse parking camera to round things off. Reiterating Honda’s commitment to passenger safety, the BR-V gets ABS and dual airbags at the front.

The BR-V is expected to be priced at 9-14 Lakhs on-road and should be showcased here in India, at the 2016 Auto Expo.
