Volkswagen will be offering more features on its entry-level product— the Polo— as the competition has upped the ante in the premium hatchback segment. The Polo will get features like electrically folding wing mirrors, cooled glove box and even cruise control.

The Polo is the only hatchback under INR 11 lakhs to get a double-clutch automatic transmission and that too seven-speed. The Vento was recently introduced with all these features recently, when it got its mid-life facelift.

The Polo will also get these updates and the Trendline and Comfortline variants will see an increase in price by INR 5,000 and the Highline’s price will be hiked by INR 15,000 approximately.

The Polo at the moment is offered with four engine options, 1.2-litre petrol with 74bhp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol with 103bhp and seven-speed DSG, 1.5-litre diesel with 89bhp and five-speed manual and the last is the 1.5-litre diesel with 103bhp and five-speed manual. The Polo was launched in 2010 and since then it has been getting updates from time-to-time.

Volkswagen’s next product for launch is the Beetle. This will be powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and will be producing about 125bhp of power.
