Land Rover today announced that it has received a fantastic response to the new Discovery Sport with initial orders crossing the 200 mark in a short span of three days.

It was on 11th of August that we had received an email from JLR India stating that they have commenced the bookings for the Land Rover Discovery Sport and in three days, we have now got another mail stating 200 bookings confirmed.

The Discovery Sport will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that will come in two states of tune (147bhp and 187bhp) and the petrol will be a 245bhp 2.

0-litre turbocharged engine. The Discovery Sport will be making its way into India on the 2nd of September and offered as a five and seven seater option.

Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said: “We are very excited that Land Rover’s most versatile premium SUV, ‘Discovery Sport’ has received such an overwhelming response from our distinguished and discerning customers in India. We thank them for their spirited response and reposing their trust once again in the iconic Land Rover brand.”

The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be replacing the Freelander2 and will be competing with the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class (GLE-Class), Audi Q5 and the BMW X3. The Discovery Sport doesn’t get a V6 engine option, like the others get but then the major sales come from the 2.0-litre engines for the German competitors as well.
