We’d spotted Mahindra’s new compact SUV, the TUV300 on test, back in May this year and had even showed you spy shots of the exterior as well as interiors. Since then, there’s been quite a buzz about the car, and Mahindra even went live with their official site, confirming the fact that a launch is imminent. Well, our friends over at Anything on Wheels have taken the wraps off Mahindra’s latest SUV and presenting it in full glory.

Touted as the toughest looking SUV to be sold in the country, the TUV300 is said to be inspired by the qualities (both, visual as well as otherwise) of a battle-tank.

The manufacturer had touted the fact that their latest SUV would have a high front nose flowing into a flat bonnet and a flat roofline that would rest on raised shoulders.

This when coupled with a high ground clearance would result in the quintessential SUV lines.

The latest spy-shots reveal a slightly different truth from the earlier images and the marketing-speak. We understand that the TUV300 in the pictures appears to be a base version, given the black bumpers, lack of cladding on the wheels and the plain looking door handles/wing mirrors. That front end too wears the Mahindra identity and TUV300 gets a hydro-formed chassis and a new, 80 Bhp, 3cylinder mHawk80 engine that churns out 240 Nm torque.

But, we can’t help but look at the car and not think about the Quanto; especially after looking at the spare-wheel mounted on the tail-gate.

We’ll reserve further comment until the official unveil sometime next month, so stay tuned.
