The exclusive NEXA dealerships may have led people to believe that Suzuki Motor Corporation might be edging out the Maruti badging with the premium crossover S-Cross in India, things could be very different on the global scene. Suzuki Motor Corporation is in-fact looking to Maruti Suzuki in taking on established players like Volkswagen’s famed Polo, Fiat’s Punto & the Ford Figo nee Ka in key markets around the world.

The upcoming Frankfurt Motorshow shall see the first shots being fired with the YRA premium hatchback that’s going to be unveiled to the world there. It is thrilling to know that Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki India Limited edged out its Hungarian counterpart in a closely contested and prestigious race to be the export subsidiary for the YRA, thereby notching up another win for the ‘Make In India’ initiative.

The YRA premium hatch is going to be Suzuki Motor Corporation’s mainstay in taking on the competition in key European markets like the UK, Italy & Germany. It is even expected to make it to Japan where it’ll be up against established JDM competition. With Suzuki Motor Corporation projecting numbers ranging between 40000 to 50000 units per annum, one can only see just how important the ‘Make In India’ YRA is in the plan of things.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited is no greenhorn to such a prestigious strategy, with its A-Star going on to win accolades from European entry-level car buyers. But the stakes are higher this time, as the YRA is going to take on the famed Polo amongst other established completion. So it is indeed a matter of pride to see Suzuki Motor Corporation looking towards its Indian subsidiary to give it the edge with the YRA in the global play of things.
