Competition testing Fiat 500L in India

Fiat has just launched the Abarth 595 today and one of Fiat’s competition has been testing the 500L, to do a benchmarking test. Fiat has no plans to introduce the 500L in India, but as the MPV is the new segment on the rise, several manufacturers are working on getting new MPVs. As the test mule spotted is a Manesar number, it can be one of the automakers based in North India that could be testing the 500L.

The MPV segment at the moment has the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy, Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy and the Toyota Innova in this segment. Soon, the Chevrolet Spin will be coming its way too in India. Fiat will be launching the Abarth Punto and the Avventura this year itself and the Jeep brand will be launched sometime next year.

The Fiat 500L won’t be making to India anytime soon as the 500L platform is a different platform and the cost to develop it will be on the higher side and this will mean that the company will have to then even localise the 500 and the 500X too.
