The Ford Ecosport has got an update in Europe, where the rear-mounted wheel has been removed and instead it has now got a tyre repair kit. Then the ground clearance is reduced and some more changes have been made to the Ecosport on the inside. The 1.5-litre diesel now produces 93bhp of power, more than the existing one that produces 88bhp.

The Ecosport for India, will get the power upgrade to 98bhp and 215Nm of peak torque. But there won’t be any change in the tail gate design.

On speaking to Nigel Harris, Ford India’s big boss, he mentioned, “The design change is not for the Indian market. In fact I like the rear design as it looks rugged.

Ford Ecosport update interior

Ford has plans to upgrade the Ecosport for the power only in India and mostly some more additional features as well. Ford will be introducing the Figo Aspire next month and it has plans to get the Figo hatchback and the Endeavour in the next nine months itself. Ford wants to make India its third biggest hub after US and China.

The Sanand plant has just started manufacturing and the company is now looking at exporting from its new plant. This will increase the volume and at the same time even make the cars more affordable.
