It was not long ago, when the reports of Yamaha YZF-R3 or R3 being spotted at a company dealership in Navi Mumbai surfaced on the web.

Now, if a Top Gear report is to be believed, then Yamaha R3 would be officially launched next month (August 2015) in India. However, the company has been quite mum on the official launch and has refrained from commenting. Just so you know, the R3 would be assembled at Yamaha’s factory from the CKD kits supplied from Indonesia.

As far as exterior styling is concerned, the Yamaha R3 comes with a diamond frame. It would be offered in three paint shades: Red, Black and Blue.

As for suspensions, it would have a telescopic fork at the front and a monocoque at the rear. The bike measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height, while weighing around 169 kgs. It has a wheelbase and ground clearance of 1380mm and 160mm, respectively. The fuel tank capacity of Yamaha R3 is 14 litres. In addition, the company might just also launch the MT-320 in India. Quite identical to the R3, it too would be locally assembled from Indonesia imported CKD kits. One of the main highlights of the Yamaha MT-320 would be Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), when it launches in March 2016 (tentative).

Coming back to Yamaha YZF-R3, it would be powered by a 321cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine.

This engine would churn out a maximum power of 41bhp at 10,750 rpm and 29.6Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. It would be coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. It would have 298 mm and 220 mm disc brakes at the front and rear, respectively. However, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) would be available as an optional feature.
