Ford India has commenced the production of its upcoming Figo Aspire sedan at its Sanand production plant in Gujrat. The advance bookings for the sedan has started at some company dealerships at a token amount of INR 50,000. It is expected to be launched in August in the country in a price range of INR 5-8 Lakhs (On-Road). Ford India is showcasing the sedan in almost every major city, as a part of the promotional campaign prior to its launch.

Kel Kearns, Site Plant Manager, Ford Sanand Plant, said, “It is fantastic to produce an exciting new product for customers in India and our export markets. This is going to be yet another game changer for Ford. Figo Aspire has been built to meet Ford’s high global standards of design, quality and performance, and is a true demonstration of the One Ford Plan.” The American autommajor recently announced Bollywood Actor/Director Farhan Akhtar as the sedan’s brand ambassador and even Farhan shot a TVC with the car. The TVC revealed that Figo Aspire is going to come loaded with several premium features like automatic climate control and Ford SYNC multimedia system.

Ford Figo Aspire would be launched in both petrol and diesel guises with a total of three engines. The diesel variants would be powered by a 1.

5-litre, four-cylinder TDCi engine and it would be coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. As far as petrol variants are concerned, the company would offer two engines – a 1.

2-litre, 4-cylinder TiVCT motor with five-speed manual transmission for base and mid variants, and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine with six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Ford Figo Aspire would feature 6-airbags with the top-end variant, which is segment-first feature as none of its competitors like Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest come with half a dozen airbags.
