Hyundai, the South-Korean automajor, has launched a crossover version of its Grand i10 hatchback in the Indonesian market. Being christened as ‘Hyundai Grand i10X’, it adorns the conventional pseudo-crossover styling, quite similar to the i20 Active in India.

Hyundai Grand i10X is exclusive to the Indonesian market and is expected to launch in India later on. If launched, it would be positioned below the Hyundai i20 Active, which was launched in March 2015 in the country.

As for exterior styling, the Grand i10X is based on the Indonesian version of the Grand i10 hatchback.

For those asking, Indian model of Hyundai Grand i10 is a bit different from the Indonesian model as it is close to the European model. As for Grand i10X, it boasts of an array of sporty elements – quite identical to the i20 Active – such as black body cladding, daytime running LEDs, plastic side extensions and a chrome-tipped exhaust. Inside the cabin, the steering wheel is an all-new unit but severa lother equipments such as a console-mounted gear shift lever, integrated audio system with 4 speakers, USB and aux ports, driver seat height adjustment, smart key with push button start, and cooled glovebox are retained from hatchback.

Hyundai Grand i10X has a big boot space of 256-litres. Quite identical to the Active i20, it also gets higher ground clearance as compared to its hatchback sibling. Under the hood, it has a 1.25-litre petrol engine which churns out a maximum power of 86bhp and peak torque of 116Nm. This engine is linked to a five-speed manual transmission. It has been priced from Rp 155,500,000 (INR 7.46 lakhs). Just so you know, Hyundai India is all set to enter the compact SUV segment in India by launching the Creta SUV next month. It would be Hyundai’s second all-new product launch in the country after the Active i20 crossover, earlier this year.
