Renault India would add a new top-of-the-range variant to its recently launched Lodgy MPV in the country. It is none other than the Stepway variant, which was showcased at the Star Guild Awards. It is more muscular, feature-rich and premium than the range-topping RxZ trim of the MPV. Some dealers have even started taking advance bookings for Renault Lodgy Stepway at a token amount of INR 50,000.

Renault Lodgy Stepway comes with several cosmetic upgrades over the standard Lodgy; however, mechanically it is the same altogether. As far as cosmetic upgrades go, the Lodgy Stepway comes loaded with a new front grille roof rails, full body cladding, front and rear skid plates with metallic finish, branded door sills and ‘Stepway’ badging. Interior cabin is almost identical to the top-end RxZ trim of the ongoing Lodgy. The Lodgy Stepway would be offered in both seven as well as eight seat configuration with several top-notch features such as dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), rear parking sensors, reversing camera and touch-screen infotainment system, etc. to mention a few.

Under the hood, Renault Lodgy MPV would have the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, K9K diesel engine which would belt out a maximum power of 108.5bhp and peak torque of 245Nm. It would be linked to a six-speed manual transmission with an ARAI specified mileage of 19.98km/l. It is being said that the Lodgy Stepway would be officially launched in coming weeks in the country with price going as high as INR 15 Lakhs (on-road, India). It would be up against the likes of segment-leader Toyota Innova, Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga. The French automaker aims to capture 5 percent share with Lodgy MPV & KWID budget hatchback in the Indian market.
