It was reported earlier that Fiat is all set to introduce its performance-oriented Abarth brand in India in August 2015 with Abarth 595. Even, it has been listed on the Fiat India website as well to confirm its launch. However, what’s interesting is the launch of two more Abarth badged cars in form of Punto EVO and Avventura. It is also confirmed as the aforesaid duo has been spotted in the country completely undisguised.

Both the high-performance versions of Punto EVO and Avventura, under Abarth badge, would be powered by a 1.

4-litre T-Jet engine. This engine would pump out a thumping 133bhp of power, which would make the duo the most powerful vehicle in their respective segment.

It is being learnt through various sources that the Italian automajor is planning to assemble the Abarth Punto locally along side the standard hatchback, so that it is not heavy on pocket for everyone. Just so you know, the 1.4-litre T-Jet mill is already on offer in India in its 112bhp avatar, and hence re-tuning it to 133bhp won’t be such a difficult task. Also, in international markets, Abarth Punto is sold as a three-door hatchback, while in India it would be presented in a five-door version.

Abarth Punto
Abarth Punto would be priced somewhere in between INR 9-11 Lakhs (On-Road)

It has been said that apart from the mechanical changes in the Abarth Punto over the standard Punto, there would also be cosmetic changes like the addition of sportier bumpers, wheels and decals too. In addition, there would be a new suspension set-up for better handling. As far as Avventura is concerned, it would bear no visual changes, unlike the Abarth Punto. Abarth version of Avventura would have the updated 1.4-litre T-Jet engine with 133bhp of power and would have a badge at rear which would read – ‘Powered by Abart’. It would certainly give a tough time to Ford EcoSport’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine equipped variants as it would develop 133bhp against their 125bhp in terms of maximum power.
