Hyundai Creta is the Korean automaker’s new compact SUV that will compete with the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano. The Creta will be launched on 21st July. This segment has seen a de-growth in the calendar year 2015, however Hyundai is confident that it will grow once the Creta comes in.

Rakesh Srivastava, VP, sales and marketing Hyundai India mentioned, “It is a conscious change in strategy by the company.

Such a move to advance the launch of a new vehicle is not new for Hyundai. In the past, it proved successful with the launch of Grand i10 last year, when the company was able to soak up the demand of customers in South India on account of Onam festival and Ganesh Chaturti in Western India, which otherwise would have benefited rival carmakers. We did it in the past, we hope to do the same with Creta.”

He further added in the conversation, “We are confident that we will be able to make a difference in the segment. Just like other segments in the market, we would be eyeing the segment leadership.”

Hyundai is targeting a market share of about 10 percent and a monthly sales number of about 4000-5000 units for the Creta. The company will be launching the Creta in July, so that it could be prepared for the festive season requirements and the company can take the entire benefit of all the festive seasons in different parts of the country starting from Onam to Baisakhi. This will give them an advantage over Maruti that is also planning to get the S-Cross, against the Creta sometime soon.
