Toyota will be updating the existing Etios Cross and the new one will be called as Etios Cross Dynamique. As Hyundai and Fiat have raised the bar for compact crossovers, Toyota will not want to miss out its share in this pie. “Dynamique” stands for dynamic in French.
The Etios Cross Dynamique will get a major upgrade with a lot more features on the inside and maybe even the ground clearance will be increased. Toyota will want to pitch the Etios Cross against the i20 Active and add a lot more bells and whistles to the crossover. The company will not just revive the Cross but the entire Etios range to make it look a lot premium. This will have an integrated music system with steering mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity and maybe even a touchscreen.
One of our sources has confirmed that the Etios Cross will be the first product that Toyota will want to revive as the company was able to good amount of buzz with the crossover’s styling, but failed to capitalise with a good number of sales figures. Toyota has worked out the negatives on the Etios Cross and it seems that the company is now ready with a new product in hand. The engines on offer will remain the same, 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel. Even their power ratings won’t change. There would even more a 1.5-litre petrol on offer as well.
If the Etios Cross does well, then the company will be looking at adding these features on the other Etios family members as well. Toyota should introduce the Etios Cross Dynamique around the festive season this year or at the 2016 Auto Expo. The pricing of the Etios Cross Dynamique will be about INR 7-9.5 lakhs (on-road).
