Mercedes-Benz will be introducing the GLC-Class in India at some point of time in 2016. The global debut of the GLC-Class will happen soon. The GLC-Class is based on the C-Class and it replaces the currently sold GLK-Class. The change in name has happened due to the new Mercedes-Benz nomenclature. The Stuttgart-based manufacturer had invited select European media to get a ride in the GLC-Class. The GLC-Class shall come packed with drive technologies, which the company claims will offer the best experience in off-road and on-road conditions.

The design of the GLC was revealed through the COMAND system, which shows similarity in design with the GLE Concept Coupe and other new-generation three pointed stars. The interiors of the GLC are a lot similar to that on the C-Class, except for a few things here and there.

The new GLC will get the COMAND system with touchpad. The rear seat knee room is reported to be more than the C-Class, and it panoramic sunroof too.

The GLC will be coming in 200, 250 and 300 variants in the initial stages and there will be a 4MATIC variant too. However, for India the GLC range will 200 and 250 (petrol and diesel engines respectively) as it will share its platform ith the C-Class.

The C-Class today has 60 per cent localisation in India, and this means that the price for the GLC will also come down drastically.

The GLC will be placed above the GLA and below the GLE. The latter is coming in August, while the GLA is also being sold.
