Volkswagen to launch the compact sedan next year

Some call it Bora, some as Stuffe and some as Vento CS. The Compact sedan from Veolkswagen will be launched next year. It will be a compact Sedan and compatible with Indian conditions. The rollout will be most likely during next year,” Volkswagen Managing Director Thierry Lespiaucq mentioned this to reporters in Coimbatore.

He refrained from speaking about any of the price details but clearly stated that the price of the Volkswagen compact sedan will be above INR 5 lakhs.

The German automaker had announced four product launches in the next 24 months. Lespiaucq was there in Coimbatore to inaugurate a new car dealership and at the same time even delvier the company’s 300,000^th car in India.

He mentioned, “they are optimistic about continuing with their growth momentum in the Indian market.” The German manufacturer is increasing its production capacity in Chakan and Aurangabad plants, not just for the VW brand but for the entire range of Group companies.

The company sold about 45,000 units in 2014 and is optimistic for even better numbers in 2015. Volkswagen is already exporting cars from the Chakan plant and this is helping the German brand to reduce its cost with higher quantity.

Volkswagen will be launching the new Beetle this year and it will be a 1.4-litre TSI and maybe even a diesel engine option too. This is most likely to be CKD, as it will be able to match the pricing of the competition.

The Volkswagen brand is looking at increasing its touch points also after it touches an annual sales numbers of 100,000 units.
