Audi imports SQ7 in India for global testing, no India plans

Audi has been testing the SQ7 and there is no hiding in that. Recently the company imported this performance version of the flagship SUV in India. This is purely for testing purpose. Audi will be launching the Q7 in India this year. This will be the 3.0-litre TDI engine. The company has also been testing the Q7 3.0-litre TFSI in India, though it won’t be making its way into India anytime soon. The SQ7 is a 4.0-litre V8 engine and this will be the most powerful Q7, unless a RSQ7 has been planned as well.Audi won’t be looking at getting any performance SUVs this year. In our conversation with Joe King, Head of Audi India, he mentioned, “Audi has no plans to introduce a performance SUV this year. Though we will be getting it in India at some point of time.”

Audi will be launching the RS6 Avant this year, which will be another new body style from the company. Apart from there will be the S3 as well. There has been an increase in focus on performance driven luxury products in India and most of the luxury car makers are looking at getting into this segment.

BMW will be introducing the X5M and X6M this year, their two performance SUVs this year and the other performance SUV to come this year will be the Range Rover Sport SVR and expect a facelift to the G63 AMG as well. Volvo too has no plans of getting the Polestar to India anytime soon. But one can increase the power of their current Volvos by remapping any company dealership.
