Tata Motors introduced the new Revotron range of engines on the Zest and the Bolt and about 55 percent of the sales of these two come from the Revotron engine. Tata Motors was looking at changing the perception of the car buyers, as uptil now majority of its buyers were diesel owners and Tata only sold under 10 per cent of petrol cars before this.

Speaking to Girish Wagh, Senior Vice President of Product Planning & Program Management – PVBU at Tata Motors Limited told MotorOctane, “Multi-drive has been a major highlight for the Revotron engines. We will look at implementing multi-drive modes in all the new products but it will vary. Even the GenX Nano has multi-drive with the Sport mode in the AMT.”

All the new range of petrol engines from Tata Motors will be a part of the Revotron family and it seems there are several new designs being made at the moment. The Indian automaker is also depending a new modular platform, which will host several new upcoming Tata Motors’ products.

Mr Wagh mentioned, “We are looking at a 15 year view with this new platform. The progress on our new platform is very good. And you will see the platform and understand how good the new platform is.” When asked for a time-line he denied from stating it. However, from our previous stories, Tata Motors is making a new platform for its next-generation of SUVs and these will have a 2.0-litre diesel engine also as a part of it.
