Google has got a green signal to start testing its self-driving cars to test on public roads, so all those living around California might spot one on test. Google has been working on driverless cars for a while and now they will be testing it on public roads.

Even though self-driving will be at work, Google is quick enough to assure that someone will be present in the car all the time to ensure maximum safety of pedestrians and other cars. Even if one self-driving car crashes, it will be bad public relations and so it will not want that to happen.

“We’ve been running the vehicles through rigorous testing at our test facilities, and ensuring our software and sensors work as they’re supposed to on this new vehicle,” the company said in one of its latest blog posting. “[The] fleet has logged nearly a million autonomous miles on the roads since we started the project, and recently has been self-driving about 10,000 miles a week. So the new prototypes already have lots of experience to draw on – in fact, it’s the equivalent of about 75 years of typical American adult driving experience.”

So for better safety, the speed limit for these cars is 25 miles per hour. If this first stage of testing becomes successful, Google will increase the speed and enhance the stage to the next level. Google and Apple both are working on introducing self driven cars and this is where most of the automotive manufacturers are also looking to get into.
