BMW might have been pushed to the number three spot, but the Bavarian automaker will be expanding its reach in India with several new product and dealership launches. BMW will be increasing its dealership network this year from 40 to 50, and at the same time the company will be launching 15 products of which four will be all-new models and the remaining 11 will be updates to the existing ones.

BMW Group India President Phillip von Sahr in an interview to PTI mentioned, “In 2015 we will expand our product range and cover all the opportunity available in the luxury car segment. We’ll be launching 15 models this year. Out of the 15 models, four will be brand new models, which will be imported from our global centres and the rest will be re-launches. We’ve already launched the concept car BMW i8, and the other brand new models are the X5M, the X6, and the X6M. There will also be re-launches of the 1 Series and the 3 Series.”

BMW 3 Series

This year so far, BMW has launched the i8 and Mini Cooper S. It will laying more emphasis on the performance division products as Mercedes-Benz And Audi have been aggressive in this segment. Recently, BMW has also increased its localization to about 50 percent, which is certainly higher than most of the competition.

At the moment, the Chennai plant assembles X1, X3, X5, 1 Series, 3 Series, 3 Series GT, 5 Series and the 7 Series.

The other products are a complete body unit import.
