There is no secret that Fiat is working on the next-generation Linea, however there are rumours that this next-generation sedan is likely not to be named as Linea.

The new sedan doesn’t get a streamlined design like others as it continues with Fiat’s similar styling design.

There are no spy shots of the new Linea’s fascia, but it does look spacious with a non-sloping roof, making the cabin a lot roomy.

The Fiat Linea 2017 will be powered by a similar set of engine options globally, however expect the new Linea and even the Punto to be lighter in weight as the new platform is made up of certain alloys that help to cut the excess flab. The new Linea’s manufacturing will commence in Turkey by mid-2016. This time expect the Linea to come with an electronic power steering and it will be exported to several markets from Turkey and most-likely even India’s Ranjangaon plant will be another export hub for Fiat.

This plant will even be utilised to even build the new small Jeep SUV.

For India, the new Linea is due to be launched in 2017. This will be the company’s new sedan that will be powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet engine and also the currently-under development the 1.5-litre multijet too. These will be offered with a five-speed manual and maybe even an automatic could also be used. We doubt if the Fiat Linea will come with an AMT, though the new Punto might get an AMT (automated manual transmission). The new-generation Linea will be a lot more spacious too and it will get all the bells and whistles like reverse parking camera, push start and stop and even keyless entry.
