Renault has launched the Lodgy for Rs 9.1 lakhs (on-road) in New Delhi. This is the base variant and the Lodgy comes in four variants Standard, RxE, RxL and RxZ and two diesel engine options 83bhp (five-speed manual) and 108bhp (six-speed manual transmission). There won’t be any petrol engine on offer. The Renault Lodgy is a seven-seater MPV, which has three rows of seating and competes with the Honda Mobilio and the Toyota Innova.

The Renault Lodgy is based on the Duster platform and it shares a lot of interior styling with the compact SUV also. The Lodgy’s top-of-the-line variant gets a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, steering column mounted audio controls, ABS, dual airbags and even reverse parking assist. The Lodgy will be on sale from today at all the Renault India dealerships. This will be the brand’s six product for India and after this the company will be introducing an entry-level hatchback at the moment codenamed as XBA.

We have done a detailed review of the Renault Lodgy and even done a quick comparison with the best-selling MPV— Toyota Innova as well. The Lodgy’s biggest USP is its space as it can comfortably seat seven people, which generally isn’t the case as the third row is usually cramped. The Lodgy will be manufactured at Renault-Nissan’s Tamil Nadu facility. The only brand that is performing well in MPV is the Toyota Innova and even the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is doing good, though it is a segment smaller than the Lodgy.
