Hero Splendor iSmart is the most fuel-efficient bike in the world

Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor iSmart – the new variant of iconic motorcycle brand – Splendor – has clocked a mileage of 102.50 kilometer per litre of petrol, thereby setting a new global benchmark in fuel efficiency.

Splendor – consisting of a range of popular brands such as Splendor+, Splendor Pro, Splendor Pro Classic, the 125cc Super Splendor and Splendor iSmart – is the largest selling motorcycle brand in the world with over two million unit sales every year.

As per the latest (March, 2015) Fuel Efficiency (FE) values, Splendor iSmart delivered a mileage of 102.50 kilometer per litre, making it the world’s most fuel-efficient bike. These FE values are certified by the iCAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) and obtained in the mandatory emission test specified in Rule 115 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) 1989, under controlled conditions using a reference fuel at an agency authorized by Rule 126 of the said Rules. iCAT is a division of NATRIP Implementation Society (NATIS) of the government of India.

National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP), the largest and one of the most significant initiatives in the automotive sector, represents  a unique joining of hands between the central government, a number of state governments and the Indian automotive industry to create a state-of-the-art Testing, Validation and R&D infrastructure in the country. It is one of the authorized agencies for testing and certifying fuel efficiency of vehicles under various categories.

Splendor iSmart has been one of the most successful launches from Hero in recent times. The company has already sold over 3 lakh units of Splendor iSmart in cumulative sales since its launch just about a year back. Developed in-house by Hero MotoCorp, Splendor iSmart comes with i3S (Idle Stop and Start System) – a revolutionary green technology that automatically shuts the engine when idling and turns it on, when needed, with a simple press of the clutch, giving more mileage in congested cities.

Splendor iSmart comes with a 100-cc air-cooled, 4 Stroke Single Cylinder OHC engine that delivers maximum power of 7.5bhp at 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 8.04 Nm @ 4500 rpm. The Splendor iSmart is elegantly designed for universal appeal. Its aesthetic features include exciting body graphics, stylish alloy wheels and meter console. Splendor iSmart is available in four exciting colors with techno graphics – Sports Red, Leaf Green, Excellent Blue and Heavy Grey.

The iSmart is available in two different variant drum self-spoke & self-Cast  at Ex-showroom price of INR 50,000.00 and Rs.51,100.00. Making it cost about INR 55,000-56,000. Hero MotoCorp is setting up an integrated Hero Centre for Global Innovation, Research & Design near Jaipur in Rajasthan. It is a testimony to the rapid progress Hero MotoCorp has made in its R&D capabilities over the past few years that as many as seven Hero bikes feature among the top 10 most fuel efficient two-wheelers in the country.
