If India can become the hub for making small cars, why not make the supercars too? If the Europeans and Americans can, why can’t we? Mean Metal Motors— an automotive start-up is up to fulfilling this big Indian dream into a reality. The company has four different teams working in four different countries for their first project called as M-Zero.

The Portugal and Italian team are working on body and styling, while the UK-based team is looking after the simulation and analysis. The Indian team will be looking at the drivetrain, testing and aerodynamics, electronics and storage of electric power on the vehicle. The M-Zero will be a parallel hybrid and the team has decided to work on a car that will be accepted globally with the current trends.

The M-Zero will get a light weight carbon-fibre monocoque tub chassis, which isn’t just light in weight but is ideal to provide the rigidity that the car will require. This will then we given to various different manufacturers to produce the supercar.

The engine will be a 4.0-litre V8 from Mercedes-Benz AMG or a 4.8-litre V8 naturally aspirated V10. The company hasn’t commenced the work of procuring an engine yet, and the work is still in its very initial stages. The idea is to produce 500+bhp from the engine and about 250+ from the electric motor, with the total power close to 800bhp and 900Nm like the other big boys.

The M-Zero also gets fingerprint keyless entry, a known technology but not utilised yet. Then the company will also be utilising special alloys to reduce the weight and hydro-pneumatic struts not just to make it lighter but also increase its stickiness to the ground. The back will get the crosshair to reduce the aerodynamic drag and improve the driving dynamics. The company is raising about $ 7million for this project. Unfortunately, this supercar will not be built in India, it will be made in Europe and will be targeting European buyers.
