Italian automaker Fiat, might not be getting the targeted success in India but it does a good enough job in other international markets. Even though looking at low sales figure for Fiat in India, Fiat has not given up any hopes to see its brand rising in future. Yes, the all-new ninth generation Linea was spotted in Sweden testing on the roads.

Viewing at the history of Linea, Fiat recently launched its facelift model in the year 2014 for competing with the challenging market in India. It performed decently in all its aspects but still did not gain much success. But looking at the upcoming model, it says, Fiat wants to change the game in Indian market. Though the spy shots do not reveal much about the car but we can surely chalk out some facts about it. The upcoming Linea looks definitely bigger, wider and newer. The front has long rectangular grille with single strip of chrome holding the Fiat badge in the center. The headlight design has been completely changed. The side profile also looks different from the existing one. The rear also seems to have a brand new look with LED tail lamps. So there is no doubt about the design being fresh and new. The all-new platform is responsible for the change in its style and dimensions. This car will no longer be made on the existing Punto platform. Both the Punto and the Linea will be based on a new platform, which will be a lot lighter than the current one.

Though the interiors weren’t captured, we expect it to be loaded with some basic as well as advanced features to stand out from the others in its segment.

Some of the features could be push start stop button, auto headlamps and rain sensing vipers. There could be more exciting features added to this list.

In terms of powertrain, both the 1.4-litre turbo MultiAir and 2.0-litre MultiJet engines, with 138bhp will be found under the hood of the European Linea. But Indian market might get the same existing 1.4 litre turbojet and 1.3 advanced multijet petrol and diesel engines respectively. There are possibilities that the company might bring a new engine option to India.

The next-gen Linea is expected to enter Indian market not before late 2016. But with this news we can surely expect a new avatar of Linea. The company might sell this car with a different name too. It also has plans to derive few more products from this new Linea, like the hatchback and crossover or estate versions. At present the existing Linea will run the market for a full two years until the next-gen sets its foot onto the Indian soil.
